It's very rare to have a Shinto shrine outside of Japan, considering that the entire religion is based on the idea that Japan is the 'holy land'. Is there a shrine near by?

The gate stands alone. There is not a large Japanese population in KW so no shrine. The Torii here and its setting is symbolic only.

I'm not aware of it. I think not ... but you never know what obscure resolution has been passed by our city commission.
